Re-using an old painting

Some years ago I received a painting as a gift. The colors looked a bit sad, and it didn´t really match with any of the colors that I had in my apartment.

This is the original painting. Since it was a gift I didn´t want to give it away.

This is how the painting looks like after a few modifications. Basically what I did was to give it new colors to make it match to the colors I have used in my living room ( since it is in this room where I wanted to hang it).

You can take this an idea when you receive a gift that do not match with the rest of the colors in your place. Do not give them away, just take your pincel and some paintings and make it look just as if it was made for your room!

2 wreaths - 5 different decorations

If we want to change the decoration in our home, that does not mean that we have to buy new decorations every single time. A good suggestion that I can give you is to always buy "basic elements" that we can always use and simple add a few accessories to decorate them.

I have in total 4 wreath, but all of them are made of a different material or have a different size. This are my main decoration objects. I think I reuse them like 3 or 4 times a year (Easter, Autumn, Christmas, etc)

Today I show you how I have decorated one wreath in 3 different ways.
WREATH N°1-Easter

WREATH N°1-Christmas 2013

WREATH N°1-Christmas 2012

Now I show you wreath N°2 and the two different Christmas decorations.

WREATH N°2-Christmas 2013

I love the kissing couple from Delft. Individually it cannot be considered as a Christmas decoration element, but together with the wreath... I found it lovely.

Isn´t lovely to spend Christmas with that special person? ♥

Toilet paper rolls decoration

This is one of my favorite handcrafts. It took me a while to do it, but it really worth it! For this project I had to collect like... who knows how many toilet paper rolls. It took a little while, but once I had enough... it was time to start my work.

I started cluing the flower in the center and then I continued gluing the paper rolls around it. You have to wait until some are dried on order to continue gluing the others around.

At the end you can paint it with any color that you like. I decided to leave it with the natural color, because it combines with the color of the walls.

The project its not difficult, but it requires a lot of time. So if you are a very patient person, you can start doing this project as soon as possible.

Who would believe that this nice wall decoration has been made out of toilet paper rolls isnt? I bet that if you paint it, nobody will ever find out what it is really made of.

3 Minutes = 3 easy DIY Ideas

3 Minutes = 3 easy DIY Ideas

This little projects don´t require much work. 1 DIY project per minute ;)

It´s not that you are creating some kind of innovative things, it is that you are learning how to give another use to things that you already have.

Here some little examples:
1. Flower vase out of an old thermo

2. Nightstand using a chair

3. Variety of containers using empty cans

Chalkboard Glass Container Labels - DIY

I love chalkboard paint. Why? Well because it is something very useful, not only at school but EVERYWHERE!!!

Today I present you some ideas of how to recycle glass containers. If you buy marmalade, honey, olives, etc. then don´t forget to wash the glass container after so then you are able to REUSE it.

The project of today is very simple: DIY Chalkboard glass container labels. For this we will need:

* glass containers
* tape and
* chalkboard paint

I think its not necessary to give you the instructions, since the pictures speak for themselves ;)

FINAL RESULT

This is very helpful because it helps you to know whats inside each glass container at first sight, so then it´s not so difficult to know where have you put the things.

Go and try this, it will probably take less than 15 minutes to do it. Have fun ;)

Birthday Party Déco - DIY

Birthday parties and all kind of events are always a good excuse to put your imagination to work. You can really have an original party adding your own creativity to it. That way you can be 100% sure: NOBODY is going to have a party like yours.

What I will show you today are a couple of handcrafts and some other little things for a birthday party inspired in the "Smurfs".

Luckily I found this smurf gummies at the supermarket. To serve them in an original and very simple way, I put them in a glass tray but in the center I put a glitter smurf sticker and then I put the gummies around it. There is not a big "science" on this, but just notice what a nice thing you can do with such a little detail.

I made some nice DIY napkin rings using some toilet paper rolls. Most of the times you throw away the toilet paper rolls, but there are so many other uses that you can give to them. (another example to apply the 3 R´s rules)

Here you can see the nice napkin rings and a DIY Smurf hat made of cardboard and smurfs gift paper.

Once again I prove you that you don´t need to spend a lot of money to be able to make something nice.

Your kids will love it and it will give you satisfaction to have done everything yourself.

Balcony furniture made of wood pallets

Summer is finally coming and everybody is renovating their terrace. There is a huge variety of exterior furniture that we can find today.

I like wood furniture, but as you know, most of the times, wood furniture tend to be a little bit expensive. So if we are short of budget, that doesn´t mean that we cannot have some nice furniture in our little balcony to enjoy this nice and sunny weather with the family and friends.

Have you ever heard about pallets??

PALLETS?!!!?

Yeah!! The transport structure that supports goods. The ones we see outside the supermarkets and garden centers! Yeah!! those pallets. You can inform yourself a bit more in wikipedia ;)if you want.

Well... how about having some nice garden furniture made of wood pallets??

You can´t imagine how easy and CHEAP is to have such a pallet furniture.

I built this the other day, this is just the first look. I will take some pictures of how the area looks not and I will load it next time.

But here you see the result. After less than 15 minutes, the balcony went from being completely empty to this.

You cannot imagine all the things you can make with recycled pallets!

And as I have promised... here are more pictures of this project:

Reusing at the supermarket: Acting quick!

Hi! :)

Today I will present you an easy way to apply the 3 R´s at the supermarket... or anywhere else.

3R´s??!!  What do you mean by 3 R´s you must be wondering. Well.. this are the 3 R´s

I´m sure you have been in my situation many times when you have gone to the supermarket.

You go to buy some groceries, but you forget to take with you your fabric supermarket bags.

As you know, RECYCLING is important not only for the natural environment, but for us as well. By using plastic bags everytime we go to buy something, we are increasing the amount of waste. Why? well... if you are interesting to know why, I think this webpage can help you:

http://www.freeairpump.com/2013/03/20/plastic-bag-pollution-awareness/

So here I show you an easy way to "ACT QUICK". If you buy cereal, you know most of the time it comes inside a box and inside the box comes a bag that contains the cereal.

So...  we are buying many other things like vegetables, yogurt, fruits, etc. What should we do? In order not to use a plastic bag, I am not telling you to be carrying the other things separate. It will be difficult and if you have to carry them a while, some might gonna end falling on the floor.

So lets take the plastic cereal bag out and put all the rest of the things we are buying inside the box. At the end it will be easier to carry and we are REUSING.

I have done this many times! Believe me it gives you a big satisfaction to know that even with this small action, you are helping to REDUCE the plastic pollution.
